About the creation :
It’s my end-of-study project, made with a group of 12 people, made with Unity in C#, in 11 months, alternating every other week with my professionalization contract. Following the selection of a dozen student pitches by the pedagogy department, I joined the pitch for a Sokoban-like with different abilities to combine to cross a world and understand its story.
During the project presentation day for industry professionals, our group had the opportunity to receive live feedback on our game, thanks to the cozy atmosphere of our room and the puzzle gameplay that allows players to take breaks and chat with us. We’ve received nothing but positive feedback and food for thought. The positive points that have been the most praised were the art direction, the polish, the sound design, and what concerns me the most, the controls and game feel. The controls are so instinctive and permissive that our tutorial wasn’t seen as such, as it was quick and easy to understand for professionals, and this comment made us very happy, given that this is the goal of a mid-core mobile game like ours.
For this project, I developed all that concerns the character, controller and gameplay sound implementation, it includes, movements, abilities, implementation of character animation and asset changes at runtime, as well as mobile-dependent features. I also enjoyed making all juiciness implementations like fx/particles linked to gameplay controls and mechanics but also tweakable GD-friendly tools, curves and values to reach a high polish level.
Tips :
Observe the environment, an easter egg, that I created and hid in the game, is to be found. To find it, here’s a hint: “Apparently useless, I reveal my potential by following the arrows nearby”.
Thanks for reading about this game.
