Pitch :
In “Slurp”, a technical shoot ’em up, the danger comes from both creatures that inhabit this dense jungle, than the jungle itself. You can shrink and discover new opportunities.

About the creation :
It’s a school project, made with Animate in ActionScript 3, in 3 months, in which we were ask to make a forced scrolling shoot ’em up playable with keyboard and controller, with parallax scrolling layers, different type of enemies, obstacles, power up (fire rate and number of canon for the ship controlled by the player) and also with collectable lifes and bombs dropped by enemies destroyed, in a controlled random set of object and many more things that you can see by playing the game or by watching the video, but still it was the principal things to do.
This projet was a individual work but with the help and ressouces from other students of the school in other field, in this case, Game Artist (GA) and Music and Sound designer (MS). Just a little bit before finalizing the game with placeholders we had chosen a GA theme from a pre-established list and integrate it into the game, and after that, with 2 MS by theme, we talk together about how we wanted the game, with this specific theme, to sound and with special orders for sounds for the special feature of each of our games and finally integrate or replace the sounds. So special thanks to the ones in the credits of this game and ISART DIGITAL Paris for this good project structure and collaboration made possible.
I mentionned the special feature, quick explanation is needed. When a class is working on a same projet, in this case a shoot ’em up, a special feature is needed to creat games that stand out from each other by making the entire game revolve around it. I have come with the idea of shrinking the ship when the player need it and can do it, to acces secret parts of the level design and change the balance of power between the player and the enemies. The special feature is inspired by the Ant-man movies, in content and form (made by me for this case, GA work didn’t have special fetaure related stuff, thanks to that you can see my game artist side).
Tips for acheving high score :
Use the special feature at the right time to get as many power up as possible, often hide in location only accesible by using the special feature, and so, make your life easier with enemies, don’t waste it by panicking when you see them. Afert that, kill as many enemies as possible, don’t let them pass you or crash into you.
