About the creation :

It’s a school project, made with OpenFl in Haxe, in a little less than 1 month, in which we were only ask to make a forced horizontal scrolling, one button, dogde game inspired by “Flappy bird”. So, when I knew about the type of the game for this project , I wanted to make it as juicy as possible (that’s how the idea for orange slice came about, for the insane possibilities of juiciness effects applicable) and less punitive than the game took as an example, to make it more enjoyable for the player, by giving more time and tries in a single run, but the progressive difficulty will always challenge in the late game, the player who wants to achieve a high score.

This game is entirely made with open source and free (or free to use for non-profit purpose) content, choosen, modified or made by me, in that case, musics and arts, so you can get a overview of my tastes and how I compose the univers of a game around a basic idea.

One of the contents that immediately given a more professional rendering to the game are the voice clips, which strongly personalize the game and make it clearly identifiable, as well as unique. I asked a childhood friend to record words I would need for the game, and then I edited them on Audacity, a software I know well from creating Youtube videos and editing voices for music. I was inspired by the man’s voice you can hear in Candy crush, for the effects applied to my friend’s voice and intonation. In my opinion, using this type of voice for feedback in a game, makes the game cuter and more joyful, that’s what I wanted to bring to the game.

Tips for acheving high score :

Try to always have two slice of orange or more, as close as possible to one of the others, to use them as shields and obstacle activator, in a size where the group of slices is easy to move together and don’t forget , when you are not low on slices, to give the biggest one to a fork, for increasing your score.
